Porter out for season with knee injury
When it broke, No. 3 Notre Dame was 4-0, coming off a 49-10 win over Purdue. Next: Stanford, Sat Oct 10.
What happened
It started on September 29, 2026 and the Notre Dame name was in every headline.
How big it got
A national argument. It landed all at once, then faded.
Why it mattered
Six edge rushers drafted out and Porter now off the roster entirely — Freeman's EDGE room was thin before August, and this makes the depth chart a genuine problem heading into the season. ESPN
