2021 is the chapter that rewrote the Harbaugh era's stakes. Eight years of 'Harbaugh can't beat Ohio State' answered in one November afternoon; eight years of 'Harbaugh can't win the Big Ten' answered four weeks later. The Georgia CFP loss reset the ceiling-question — not whether Michigan could reach the semifinal, but whether the program's roster could win it. The 2022 and 2023 seasons answered both. Without 2021, the 2023 title is not possible; the 2021 season's schematic identity (power run game, Aidan Hutchinson defensive tone, Haskins finishing drives) became the Wolverines' template for the three-year run.
