LB Ty’Anthony Smith dismissed from Texas
What happened
The story broke on August 23, 2026, with Texas at the center.
How big it got
The biggest roster story of 2026 so far.
The whole sport talked about it. It landed all at once, then faded.
Why it mattered
Smith out while Biles and Simmons are racking up Bednarik watch buzz — Sark's trimming the roster at a position that can afford the cut right now, but depth math is unforgiving in the SEC. Burnt Orange Nation
Smith's dismissal thins a linebacker room that was already banking on youth — with Biles and Simmons carrying the Bednarik buzz, depth behind the stars just got shorter.
