Power broker conflictA persistent off-field dispute following the program.
Off the Field · 2026 · national
Twelve narrative frames run under this site's storylines, and two of them read off-field wire coverage instead of anything that happens on a field. This is every program currently carrying one open, with the wire row that opened it.
Ranked by how sharp the story is right now, not by school. A ruling and a feud are different things -- each card says which one it is.

Some of this is one story told across a dozen programs. Each docket below is every report we have on one case, oldest first, in the outlets' own words. We do not write the connective tissue — the dates do.
I mean we held on to Mike freaking Norvell for 6 years and have a 50 mil buyout. I'm not convinced that he would have bad job security either. Not saying we're a better job but that doesn't really apply here.
Eh. Let's calm down a bit here. Edit - imagine for a moment that Kiffin had decided to stay at Ole Miss for the mirror contract offer he had at LSU. Then, imagine he pulled a Norvell and started losing. In 3 years, we would be in a worse situation than almost any team in the country.…
Governance stories that belong to a conference or to the sport, not to one program. Every member of the league named is affected by these — which is a different thing from the ruling landing on one program, so they are kept apart from the rows above.
Governance shock opens the moment a court ruling, an NCAA or College Sports Commission enforcement action, or a conference policy vote names a program as a party -- one qualifying wire row is enough, because the wire's own classifier already requires 80% confidence before a story is even counted.
A program has to be a party to the action, not merely named in the story. A wire item that mentions six schools while describing one school's lawsuit is one school's lawsuit; before September 2026 this board treated all six as carrying their own ruling, which put programs on here for cases they had nothing to do with. Stories that are genuinely about a conference or about the sport are kept, but under League business, where the claim is true of every member rather than pinned to one of them.
Power broker conflict is held to a higher bar on purpose: a single booster quote or one buyout figure is money news, not a feud. This frame only opens once a program has at least two qualifying wire rows spanning at least a week -- a persistent dispute, not a single news cycle.
Every line of every receipt is the outlet's own headline, linked to the outlet. This site writes nothing about what any of it means. Until September 2026 each card also printed the wire classifier's "why it matters" gloss and its one-word impact chip; both were removed after the gloss was measured inventing facts about the people named in these rulings -- it put a defensive tackle in a safety room and a nose guard in a linebacker room while describing their court cases. A story we cannot show a published headline and a working link for is not listed here at all.
A program drops off once its dispute goes quiet for three straight weeks, or once a ruling-type story simply has no newer program to attach to. This season: 42 governance shocks open, 35 power broker conflicts open.
