October 19, Knoxville. Tennessee 25, Alabama 24 on Max Gilbert's final-seconds field goal. The second straight home win in the Third Saturday rivalry; the sign the Heupel restoration wasn't a Hooker-year anomaly.
CFP First Round, December 21. Ohio State 42, Tennessee 17. The Buckeyes' eventual-title defense held Iamaleava to 104 passing yards; the Vols' first CFP appearance ended on a road trip. The scoreboard reset the restoration's ceiling question — not whether Tennessee could reach the bracket, but whether the roster could win inside it.

2024 is the chapter that closed the wilderness and opened the bracket. A first CFP appearance for a program whose last SEC title is in 1998 and whose last top-five finish was in 2022 under Hendon Hooker. The Alabama home win is the restoration's signature; the Ohio State CFP loss is its ceiling-calibration. The Iamaleava era began here; the Heupel era's second phase began here. Both are ongoing.
