T.J. Moore

When the 2025 season caved in on Clemson — a graduated Klubnik, a fired coordinator, a fan base calling it a letdown — T.J. Moore was the one piece nobody wanted to lose. He had every reason to test the portal. Instead he signed a new deal to stay, and now the whole offense gets rebuilt around him.

The story

The discourse on Clemson this offseason is all about subtraction: Cade Klubnik off to the Jets, Garrett Riley fired, Chad Morris brought back to run what beat writers are calling the most wide-open quarterback competition in nearly a decade. Into that vacuum walks the one constant — Moore was the only Tiger to start all 13 games in 2025, leading the team with 52 catches for 837 yards and four scores, and CBS Sports tagged him as Clemson's top returner. The retention was its own saga: he waited to see how the QB room and the coordinator hire shook out before agreeing to a new deal to come back, a decision Yahoo framed as Clemson keeping "one of college football's best wideouts."

The receipts say the role is earned, not gifted. He joined Justyn Ross, Sammy Watkins and Artavis Scott as the only Clemson receivers ever to clear 650 yards in both their freshman and sophomore seasons, and his 16.1 yards per catch reads like a real downfield weapon. There's a wrinkle the boards are watching, though: Moore had lower-body surgery after the season and was limited early in spring, with Dabo Swinney promising a ramp-up rather than a setback. Pair that with a quarterback room led by Christopher Vizzina but unsettled, and the picture is a proven target who now depends on an unproven thrower.

The forward stake is the cleanest in the ACC: if Moore stays healthy and a quarterback emerges, he's a Biletnikoff-caliber WR1 carrying Clemson's reset. If the offense around him stays raw, the best receiver in the building spends 2026 fighting for targets that never quite arrive.
