The team, the Big Purple marching band, and fans process from the tailgating areas across Stevens Park and through the Wildcat Way archway — etched with 'Lifelong Loyalty' and 'Friends for Life' — into Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium. The tradition began with the stadium's on-campus opening in September 2017, ending a roughly 50-year run of home games at the city-owned Shotwell Stadium, 3.5 miles from campus.
Students, staff, and faculty wear purple and white across campus year-round to show Wildcat spirit — a standing campus tradition independent of the football schedule. (Exact founding year not confirmed in available sources.)
