How fan mood is read

Fan mood compares what Florida State fans wrote in r/CFB game threads with every FBS fanbase with enough talk that week. A week runs Monday to Sunday and is named for the game in it. The read is redrawn 300 times from the same commenters, re-ranking every fanbase each time. Sour or all in means the read sat in the bottom or top fifth in at least 70 of every 100 draws; on the sour side or on the bright side, in the bottom or top two fifths in at least 80; anything less settled is middle of the pack. A bright label also needs more positive talk than negative, and a sour one the reverse. Brighter or sourer than usual compares the week with the team's own earlier weeks, after taking out how every fanbase read that week. Each dot sits at the read's rank that week. A week read before these labels keeps the word it was first given, the fifth it sat in (sour, uneasy, mixed, hopeful or all in). Season averages are the mean of a season's reads, in fifths from sour to all in, and seasons before 2026 were read from each week's wider talk, so a comparison across seasons is rough. 2019 and 2020 were read later, in one pass, from saved talk.

fans believe Norvell is underperforming as head coach

Even if some how FSU goes 8-4, 7-5. I still don't want Norvell back.

Ya,know I'm glad FSU won Ya,know but Norvell still has to go Ya,know. I have 0 faith in this man Ya,know FSU should fire him after his next loss Ya,know.

job securityEarly signal — few voices

fans believe Alford was fired unfairly

Michael Alford is the scapegoat, the fall guy. His firing should be tied to the firing or resignation of FSU Board of Trustees Chair, Peter Collins.

is he awful or is it just me? can anyone explain (other than maybe knowing where some skeletons may possibly be buried) why he's still employed by FSU??

One fan believes FSU’s NIL spending is too low to compete

Fans will be more frustrated going on , messed up college football paying players and the NIL fsu can't compete for athletes like the money schools

We're going to lose anyway - our five- and four- and three-stars are going through the motions.

One fan believes the team’s history is being disrespected

I’m tired of getting the score run up on us and listening to the war chant get mocked every road game as if we weren’t expected to lose.

We’ve been hearing FOR YEARS NOW the jokes from other fanbases about how FSU is too broke to fire their coach. That’s what scares the piss out of us.

One fan argues the school overspends on coaching salaries

Eating 60 million dollars is the cost of doing business. Sure it sucks to pay a coach that much not to do their job but you know that when you signed the contract.

player performanceOne fan's take

One fan believes Ashton Daniels struggles with accuracy in key moments

Ashton Daniels cannot find them all game. Deuce Robinson had a 7 inch advantage on his DB and Daniels goes to him once or twice all game.

program directionOne fan's take

One fan thinks the program lacks clear direction under current management

Jimbo started butting heads with the FSU admin/boosters over financial support, planting the seed that this program is just not built for the NIL era.

portal roster moveOne fan's take that season

One fan believes the team is rebuilding and struggling with player retention

So, what'd I get wrong? FSU basically tore it down again. 43 players out through the portal, only about 22% of the defense back, and Castellanos (2,760 yards, led the team in passing and rushing) is out for Ashton Daniels, an Auburn transfer who threw for 797 yards last season. The run game (11th in rushing) and Duce Robinson (1,074 receiving) are real bright spots though. Reload year, or another retool?

One fan believes Ashton Daniels lacks the leadership qualities needed for Florida State’s future

I hope he proves me wrong but Ashton Daniels is not it. He's not the kind of quarterback Florida State University should have.

schedule expectationOne fan's take that season

One fan expects many games to end in narrow margins

I hope we come and out and annihilate then early so I can relax but I’m expecting a very close game down to the wire where I will go through several heart conditions.

This new QB for Pitt scares me. I think we’re gonna see a ton of points today and a close game. Noles need this one 🍢🍢🍢
