Drew Bobo

The story of Bobo's 2026 starts with the way 2025 ended. Few in Athens predicted the impact he'd have when he stepped in for Jared Wilson, but by midseason he was the Bulldogs' best interior lineman — the one making the calls at the line, the one mauling in the run game — and he earned Second Team All-SEC from both the AP and the coaches for it. Then he went down with a foot injury against Georgia Tech, missed the SEC Championship and the Playoff, and Georgia, as one beat outlet put it, "learned the hard way" exactly what he gave them.

That's why his name dominates the offensive-line conversation this offseason instead of the box score. Bobo had foot surgery after the season, sat out spring practice entirely, and isn't expected back at work until sometime over the summer — and the message-board honesty is that, given how late the injury happened, it's no sure bet he's ready to start Week 1. He's the son of OC Mike Bobo, the brain and the voice of a line that's also breaking in new position coach Phil Rauscher, with Earnest Greene and Dontrell Glover the other returning starters around him. The preseason machinery already has him circled — Rimington Trophy watch list, Athlon preseason All-SEC — and Georgia's line projects elite if he's right.

That "if" is the whole 2026 stake. A healthy Bobo makes this front a strength; a foot that won't cooperate leaves the Bulldogs' interior leaderless out of the gate. The race isn't against an opponent. It's against his own recovery clock.
